RIOJA RESERVA 2014

• Vineyard name: Assa and Zarzamochuelo Vineyard age: Planted in 1957 and 1947, respectively.
• Vineyard: Single vineyard between la Puebla de Labarca and Laguardia (Rioja Alavesa). Altitude 570 meters. Highly organic soil by virtue of its texture and clay-limestone in composition, the soil is loose, deep and high in organic minerals. The subsoil is made up of several layers of white limestone and others of fine white sand with clay derived red hints.
• Vinification: 100% destemmed. Pre-fermentation cold maceration at 6º for 6 days. Temperature controlled alcoholic fermentation at 25º. Continuously pumped over and carefully punched down when necessary (delestage/pigeage). Heavy macro-oxygenation. 22 days maceration with skin-contact. Direct devatting to new French oak barrels for malolactic fermentation and contact with fine lees for the first 6 months.
• Ageing: Barrels: 22 months in new French oak barrels.
• Bottle: 18 months in bottle with frequents tasting controls
